Rancher and Farming and Food Advocate Nicolette Hahn Niman Announces Run for California’s 2nd Congressional District
North Coast rancher and farming and food advocate Nicolette Hahn Niman, officially announced her campaign for California’s 2nd Congressional District against Incumbent Congressman Jared Huffman as an Independent Candidate.
“I’m running as an independent because the 2nd Congressional District needs an Independent voice in Congress that is focused on working for solutions for the pressing issues we face at home, affordability of basic necessities, lack of housing and health care and the disappearance of an agricultural economy we rely on to feed our families healthy food”, said Nicolette. “The fact that the incumbent’s Campaign has already attacked me with baseless labels shows all that is wrong with those who currently occupy the halls of Congress. Their energy is spent on partisan bomb throwing and snappy one-liners that will get them on nightly cable news, and not focused on what matters, the people and the communities they have been elected to represent.”
Nicolette Hahn Niman has a diverse background that will suit her well representing the 2nd Congressional District in the Halls of Congress. Along with being a long time North Coast rancher, Nicolette has spent a lifetime working to help her community. She has served as a City Commissioner, a school board member, a church lay leader, and a Little League and youth soccer coach. Nicolette is an honors graduate of the University of Michigan School of Law and has practiced as an attorney fighting for clean water and clean air for rural and disadvantaged communities. She is an agricultural advocate, having written three books and many articles about the importance of agriculture for economic and ecological vitality and human health. Her Husband, Bill Niman, is the founder and former CEO of Niman Ranch, a network of over 650 family farms and ranches. Using her platform to advocate for sensible farming she strikes a balance between preserving the ecological conditions that make California one of the leading agricultural regions in the world; while also protecting family farms and ensuring they can be passed on from generation to generation, securing a reliable food supply for California, the nation, and the world.
